Hospitality begins at Campus House
By Christina DeStefano

If you are a hospitality and tourism major at Buffalo State College, then Campus House is the place for you.   Campus house provides students with hands-on knowledge to earn credits toward their major by creating original menus, marketing and by conducting hospitality and tourism research.

Campus House was designed especially for faculty and staff as a quiet, comfortable and affordable place for lunch and socializing.    Students who are majors in hospitality learn how to become what they want to be by working in an atmosphere similar to their future work place.

Guest Service Manager Theresa Radder is very proud of what Campus House provides students and feels that the experience there is a positive one.

"We provide a real life experience to our students.  We train our students in management, cooking and serving.  Our students create parties that relate to real life situations and are involved in hotel settings," says Radder.

"The staff at Campus House is very knowledgeable and are always there to lend a helping hand," says senior Penny Gilbert.

Campus House offers full-course set and specialty menus, including seasonal and ethnic foods.   Their a la carte menu including soups, salads, distinct entrees, and desserts, is served Tuesday through Friday.  Every Monday Campus House serves a unique lunch buffet.

Campus house is open 10 months a year, September through June.   Their hours of operation are:

Monday through Friday:

  • self service coffee and tea: 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • lunch:  11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • closes at 3 p.m. on Mondays
Tuesday through Friday:
  • Full service cash bar:  4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
