No team leaves Buffalo upset
By Matt Eustace

A total of six men's college basketball games were played in the HSBC Arena in downtown Buffalo over the course of three days recently and nobody's brackets were busted. In other words, there were no upsets in the first-or second-round played here in Buffalo , which means two good things:
  • The teams were seeded properly by NCAA officials
  • The city of Buffalo cannot be blamed for any mishaps

Top seed Saint Joseph's plowed over 16th seed Liberty with a score of 82 to 63 . St. Joe's also went on to beat Bobby Knight's Texas Tech with a score of 70 to 65 to prove to the world that they are the truth . Although Bobby Knight 's team did fail to advance to the “ Sweet Sixteen ,” it did have a good showing in their first round, 76 to 73, victory over a good Charlotte team.

If you had a feeling that there had to be at least one upset at the HSBC Arena, you probably picked number 10 seed Dayton to edge out 7th seed DePaul . Well, it didn't happen. DePaul beat Dayton 76 to 69 , and advanced to the second round to play the winner of UConn vs. Vermont .

The Number 2 seed Huskies of Connecticut routed the 15th seed Catamounts of Vermont (What is a catamount?) by a score of 70 to 53 . In the second round, DePaul kept with the theme of no upsets by not upsetting UConn .

So the number 1 and 2 seeds escape Buffalo unscathed and although UConn is the higher seed of the two, UConn is looking very strong and could just win this whole tournament, then again any of the remaining 16 can, that's the beauty of March Madness .
