Buffalo State students react to war's anniversary

A little more than a year has passed since U.S. troops invaded Iraq and President Bush put Operation Iraqi Freedom into effect.
At Buffalo State College, some students have changed their view from last year on whether or not American troops should be in Iraq.
When the U.S. declared war on Iraq, Steven Pitt, a BSC junior had high hopes for the country.
"I hoped for good things to come of it," Pitt said.
Pitt offers a different opinion this year, however.
"I think it's a good thing Hussein is out of power there, but I feel it's (the war) is a drain on the economy and our country was misled ," Pitt said.
Lori Hubert, a BSC senior, also believes Americans were deceived.
“At the time, they came up with all this evidence that the Iraqis had weapons of mass destruction and they still didn't find any ," Hubert said. "At the time I was for the war."
Hubert believes the Iraqis may not have been as great a threat as the president made them out to be and the country should have waited to declare war.
"Maybe jumping right into war may not have been the best alternative," Hubert said. "We need to move forward."
Sean Martin, a BSC junior, said he was originally in support of removing Saddam Hussein from power, but now is not as willing to undergo the costs of war.
"I feel nothing is changing as it is," he said.
Jennifer Ristovski, 20, said she was shocked when she first heard of President Bush's plan last March and now she would like the soldiers to return to their families.
"I just want it to be over," Ristovski said. "Let the people come home."
