Softball in sunny Ft. Myers

Just imagine the hot sun beating down while playing your favorite sport in the month of March . Sounds too good to be true, huh? Well, that is where the Buffalo State College women's softball team started its season, in sunny Florida.
While in Ft. Myers, the softball team split 5-5, playing doubleheaders since March 17 . Not bad for a team that was considered No. 2 in the coaches poll. The poll is an annual poll posted by university coaches that basically determines what teams are going to be successful during the season. SUNY Cortland was first with 100 points and in close second was BSC with 83 points.

- BSC vs. Lasell
- 8-3 victory
- Liz Beiter allowing no runs in four innings
- Nadine Sirianni had a double and a home run
- BSC vs. Montclair
- 2-1 loss
- Pitcher Kristen Scheffold threw a five hitter with no runs
- Emily Goldyn was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI
- March 18
- BSC vs. Smith
- 5-0 loss
- Freshman Lauren Wright's debut allowed five runs in three innings
- Beiter allowed no runs in the final four innings and extended her shutout to eight innings
- BSC vs. Wheaton
- 5-3 win
- Scheffold allowed six hits and one run, her first win as a Bengal
- Goldyn was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI
- March 19
- BSC vs. Wisconsin-Oshkosh
- 10-3 victory
- Beiter got the win, allowing eights hits
- Sirianni was 2-for-4 with two RBI
- BSC vs. St. Michaels
- 8-3 loss
- Kristin Balsavage allowed 12 hits
- Nicole Willats was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBI
- March 20
- BSC vs. New England
- 16-7 victory
- Wright allowed six runs. Relieved by Beiter, earning the win
- Lauren Mruk was 2-for-4 with a homerun and five RBI
- Sirianni was 3-for-5 with two RBI
- BSC vs. Southern Maine
- 8-7 loss
- Scheffold allowed 12 hits in six innings taking the loss
- Lindsey Matheis was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI
- Goldyn was 2-for-4 with an RBI
- March 21
- BSC vs. Lawrence
- 4-2 win
- Beiter with five strike outs and four hits
- Mruk was 2-for-3 with a two-run homerun in the seventh inning to tie
- Heidi Rammacher got the winning run in the eighth
- BSC vs. Wisconsin-Whitewater
- 6-4 loss
- Scheffold allowed four runs and six hits in three innings
- Balsavage allowed two runs in the final three innings
- Sirianni was 3-for-4 with two RBI
- Tiffany Ciolek was 2-for-4 with an RBI
