Podolefsky Appointed President of Buffalo State College
The State University of New York Board of Trustees appointed Aaron Podolefsky as the next president of Buffalo State College at its meeting in New York on Tuesday, March 23. SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher announced last week that she would formally recommend Podolefsky for the college’s top post. Podolefsky was the overwhelming choice of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee and College Council following a national search.
The Arctic: Lecture Series Examines Environment, Sovereignty, and Politics
What will the Arctic look like in 2030? An April lecture series, “Arctic: The Unexpected Frontier,” will explore the multidisciplinary issues that are being raised as the polar ice cap shrinks.

SUNY Confirms New Buffalo State President
Aaron Podolefsky, who was nominated last week by the State University of New York chancellor to become Buffalo State College’s next president, was officially appointed to the position Tuesday by the SUNY Board of Trustees.
This New Musical Instrument Is Pretty Cool
This is the double slide controller, described as “an electronic trombone-like instrument featuring two independent slides and two versatile hand controllers.” Kind of haunting, kind of eerie, and in a way that sounds genuinely new. It was developed by Tomás Henriques, an assistant professor at Buffalo State, who took first place at the 2010 Guthman Musical Instrument Competition, held by the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology.
5K Bengal Run Wraps Up at Buff State
Last weekend may have been all about NCAA basketball downtown, but on Saturday morning at Buffalo State, it was all about quick feet, as a large crowd of bundled-up runners made their way to the starting line of the 13th annual Bengal 5K Run & Fun Walk.
