Welcome to the Buffalo State Community Academic Center (CAC).
Through a generous gift from longtime Buffalo State supporters Eleanore Woods Beals, '50, and her husband, Vaughn Beals, the university has opened the doors to this new center located at 214 Grant Street in Buffalo.
The CAC's central mission is to coordinate and provide cradle-to-career educational support programming for youth and families on Buffalo’s West Side.
Programming is developed and designed in collaboration with campus and community partners. Activities and offerings range from outside of school time enrichment to instruction for newcomer refugee youth and parents.
The CAC is jointly operated by Buffalo State's Center for Excellence in Rural and Urban Education and the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center.
The 3rd annual Peace, Love, and Grant Street will be occuring on Thursday, December 5th from 4pm-8pm. The event will feature many of the shops, restaurants, and services we have on Grant St. It will also serve as a kickoff to Thursdays on Grant St. which will feature extended shopping hours and pop-up craft stores within selected locations.
On December 5 there will be a trolley to transport shoppers up and down Grant St, live outdoor music, food trucks, holiday arts and crafts, and an appearance by Santa.
Free activities include holiday movies at the Grant Street Neighborhood Center and Aed 100's Contemporary Tea Ceremony at the Buffalo State Community Academic Center. And there will be an after party at Gyspy Parlor (376 Grant Street) with Fortune Telling, Handcrafted Gifts by local vendors, Seasonal and Local Brews, Free Hors D'oeuvres.
