Grant Street Global Voices:
In partnership with Young Audiences of WNY and Buffalo Public Schools, the CAC is coordinating a large scale mural project entitled: "Celebrating the Immigrant and Refugee Experience: Yesterday and Today." Muralist Augustina Droze will be painting the mural and will incorporate images and narratives from youth and community members.Community and school-based workshops began in fall of 2012. The mural will be painted during the spring and summer of 2013 and will be completed by August.
West Side Promise Neighborhood Planning Grant:
The CAC submitted a West Side Promise Neighborhood Planning Grant to the Department of Education in collaboration with ten community partners. The one year planning grant of up to $500,000 would allow for the creation of plans to provide cradle-to-career services that improve the educational achievement and healthy development of children.
West Side Voices Roundtable Series:
For Buffalo State's Year of the City, the CAC is hosting a roundtable series dedicated to exploring topics of importance on the West Side of Buffalo. Two roundtables will be held for the fall semester and include "Voices of Youth Leadership" and "Voices of Entrepreneurship."
