Economics, Finance, and Social Science Seminar

Time:  03:00 pm to 05:00 pm

Location:  Campus House Boardroom

Two papers will be presented and discussed at the seminar. First, Dr. Ted Schmidt, associate professor of economics and finance, will present his paper "Financialization of Commodities and the Monetary Transmission Mechanism."  The author argues that financial innovations in commodity markets since 2000 have helped create a direct link between monetary policy and inflation. Second, Dr. Tae-Hee Jo, assistant professor of economics and finance, will present his paper "Financing Investment Under Fundamental Uncertainty: A Heterodox Microeconomic View."  The author provides alternative explanations for business investment decision-making under uncertainty.
