CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN URBAN AND RURAL EDUCATION

PROGRAMS

This project is designed to support faculty research and publication.  One of the difficulties professional education faculty frequently encounter is finding the time and energy to “produce” a manuscript ready to submit for peer review.  Research and writing are time consuming, and sometimes require collegial assistance to reach fruition.   The faculty research initiative provides assistance, encouragement, and time to write.

By combining the resources of the Center for Health and Social Research (CHSR) and the Center for Excellence in Urban and Rural Education (CEURE) and in conjunction with the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) this project provides "on demand" assistance to faculty working to complete scholarly work.

Mentors assist faculty with issues of research design, statistical analysis, and manuscript editing.  An annual three day retreat is held during the intersession between spring and summer semesters for as many as 18 faculty selected from all four schools at Buffalo State College.
