CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN URBAN AND RURAL EDUCATION

PROGRAMS

Urban Teacher Education Learning Laboratories represent extensive, mutually beneficial partnerships with urban schools in need of reform.  Partner schools work closely with CEURE liaisons to make sure every student achieves state learning standards across core areas (reading, math, science, social studies).  Buffalo Public School 18 was CEURE’s first Urban Teacher Education Learning Lab.  Herman Badillo is one of the current labs.  CEURE provides additional instructional/mentoring opportunities for pupils vis-à-vis preservice teachers, technology support, and teacher professional development and retraining.  In turn, CEURE receives:

  • Opportunities for applied research in education
  • Urban field experiences (pre-K-8) for teacher candidates beyond student teaching
  • Site-based instruction of Buffalo State College teacher education courses
  • Advisement on other CEURE initiatives
  • Site for extension of other grant-based educational activities
