The B.A. program allows students to concentrate in either traditional chemistry, with a stronger emphasis on analytical and inorganic chemistry, or biochemistry. The B.A. program is certified by the American Chemical society. Students graduating from this program are ready to begin work as a laboratory chemist or to take on the challenge of graduate school or other professional school.
The B.S. in Forensic Chemistry prepares graduates to work in a crime laboratory after graduation. In addition to chemistry courses, the program requires students to complete coursework in biology and criminal justice. All students are required to complete an internship in a crime laboratory or similar environment before graduation.
The B.S. program in Chemistry Education leads to a New York State initial certification for teaching both chemistry and general science in grades 7-12. Students have the opportunity to extend their certification so that they can also teach grades 5-6.
