Internships provide an opportunity for the student to get realistic working
experience, rather than thinking that their careers would be more like a TV
series. The student will gain an appreciation of the many types of careers that
are possible in forensics and also can begin the process of networking with
working forensic scientists. Student internships occur mainly in forensic
laboratories in New York State, however, we have had students in Washington, DC,
Philadelphia, and Ontario, Canada. Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental are
required, so the student may make an appointment with the instructor any time
after their Junior year and when they are on their way to fulfilling the
prerequisites.
