COLLEGE RELATIONS OFFICE

PUBLICATIONS AND PRINT MATERIALS

College Relations staff members can discuss your project and offer suggestions for reaching your targeted audience. It's best to meet early in the process so we can determine schedules and budgets together. After we discuss what you'd like to accomplish, we can determine a strategy, which could include anything from a poster or Web site to an e-mail or advertising campaign.

Before You Start
Who is your audience? What is your primary message, and what do you want this audience to do in response to this message? What are the best ways to reach your audience? And how will you know that your project has been successful? These are all good questions to ask before you spend time and money on promotional efforts.

Production Process
Depending on how involved your project is, allow for six to 15 weeks of production time, start to finish. Steps can include:

  • Meet with College Relations staff, determine focus, audience, distribution method, and budget
  • Approve draft content and design
  • College Relations arranges for photographs, interviews, etc. and creates publication
  • All content is professionally copy edited
  • Sign off on final mock-up
  • To printer or other vendor
  • Product delivered (allow extra time if mailing)

Our office must schedule all jobs and may not have the capacity to take on new work without proper lead time. Outside vendors (printers, photographers, etc.) must quote on work and you must have a purchase order in place well in advance of your order. We can walk you through the steps; contact the College Relations Office at (716) 878-4201 or collrel@buffalostate.edu.
