COMMENCEMENT

Graduates are required to complete either the bachelor's ceremony registration card (PDF) or the master's/C.A.S. ceremony registration card (PDF) when they register for commencement. The cards include a space to indicate special needs assistance for the graduate or guests (wheelchair-accessible seating, hearing interpreter, barrier-free access). Note: wheelchairs are not provided by Buffalo State.

Barrier-free entrance/handicapped seating information
Barrier-free seating for guests is provided on the lower level of the Sports Arena. Enter the arena at the doors closest to the parking lot (signs will direct you). Once you enter, an usher will direct you to seating. Please arrive as early as possible for your ceremony.

  • Doors open for guests at 9:00 a.m. for the 10:00 a.m. baccalaureate ceremony.
  • Doors open for guests at 1:00 p.m. for the 2:00 p.m. baccalaureate ceremony.
  • Doors open for guests at 5:00 p.m. for the 6:00 p.m. master's hooding and C.A.S. ceremony.

Hearing interpreters and assistive listening devices
A hearing interpreter will sign each ceremony and be seated on stage. Graduates or guests who require a hearing interpreter can request special seating arrangements by contacting the Events Management Office or call (716) 878-6114.

Assistive listening devices may be signed out on commencement day at the information booth located outside the Sports Arena.

Large-print programs
Large-print copies of the commemorative program will be available upon request. Please e-mail the Events Management Office or call (716) 878-6114 by April 1 if you would like a copy for commencement day. You also may contact the office anytime after commencement to request a large-print program.

Shuttle Van Service
Shuttle van service will run throughout the day from the parking lots to the sports complex and back for those who require assistance. Signage will direct you.
