Anyone may nominate a Buffalo State graduate for this award. To nominate, prepare a brief biographical sketch including (if known) the nominee's major and year of graduation; professional accomplishments; awards and honors; and contact information. Nominees are reviewed by a faculty committee, and top candidates are presented to the entire department faculty for final selection. Nominations may be sent to the communication@buffalostate.edu.

The Hall of Fame also honors former faculty with special service awards for their work with students. Honorees include Dr. Julia Piquette, Dr. Robert Elmes, and Joseph Roland.
