Members of Buffalo State chapter 

Eligibility: Applicants to the Honor Society must have an overall GPA of 3.0 with at least 60 credits completed. They also must have a major GPA of 3.25 and must have completed at least 12 COM or SPC credits taken at Buffalo State.

Chapter History: The inaugural event of the chapter was the induction of 42 juniors and seniors in the Communication Department as charter members. The induction was held in a candle-light ceremony Oct. 28, 2005. Subsequent induction ceremonies have been held each academic year.

Purpose: The goals of the Communication Honor Society are:
- To recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication
- To stimulate interest in the field of communication
- To promote and encourage professional development among communication majors
- To provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication
- To establish and maintain closer relationships and mutual understanding between students and faculty
- To explore options for graduate education in communication

National Organization: Rho Psi is the Buffalo State College chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, Student Honor Society of the National Communication Association. Rho Psi was chartered at Buffalo State in 2005 as the 400th active chapter worldwide.
