Melissa Muldoon has been awarded the first annual Charles Y. Adair Award.

Given to a graduating senior, the award honors the memory of Charles Y. Adair, who taught journalism at Buffalo State College from 1980 until his death in 2000 at age 58. A former reporter and copy editor in Michigan, Missouri and Western New York, Adair was known for his real-world approach to communication education.

Adair always held his students to high professional standards, and they returned the favor by revering him as a great journalism professor and a major influence on their careers.
