Autobiographical Film Series Featured at Burchfield-Penney Art Gallery
Autobiography Film Series Featured
Meg Knowles, assistant professor of media production, will introduce "Wide Awake," a film by Allen Berliner, during "True Lives, False Lives," on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Burchfield-Penney Art Center. The autobiography film series that focuses on the revealing art of self-portraiture continues the Burchfield-Penney Art Center's popular "RendezBlue" series of art, music, film and performance festivals.
In the film, Berliner gives a tour of his life-long battle with insomnia and his obsessive mind that will not allow him sleep, yet serves him as a filmmaker. The film is also a film about filmmaking itself -- documenting Berliner's creative process and mirroring the energy he paradoxically derives from his sleeplessness.
Other artists featured include Dorothea Braemer, Kathy High, Jody Lafond, Gail Mentlik, Abraham Ravett, Peter Ramos and Allen Shelton.
"True Lives, False Lives," continues at the Burchfield-Penney Art Center until March 2. The series is free of charge and open to the public.
