Franczyk Named Assistant Professor
Buffalo journalist Annemarie Franczyk has been appointed an assistant professor of journalsm in the Communication Department after a national search. She will begin her new assignment with the Fall 2008 semester.
A specialist in mutli-media convergence, Franczyk covers the health care, accounting and insurance industries for Business First of Buffalo. She has served as a lecturer for the Communication Department since 1992, teaching Principles of Journalism, Media Writing, Health Reporting,. She also has served as faculty adviser for the student newspaper, The Record.
Franczyk was a reporter for the Niagara Gazette, covering the county legislature and general news from 1987-89 and served as an editor for USA Today in 1988. Prior to that, she was editor of the Bee Group Newspapers' Kenmore-Tonawanda edition and an editorial assistant for the Metro Community News.
Franczyk holds a doctorate in education (health policy) and a master of science degree (health services administration) from D'Youville College. She earned her bachelor's degree (mass communication) from St. Bonaventure University.
