What Accreditation Means for Students

National Accreditation. Communication students at Buffalo State are now part of a program that is nationally accredited for professional education in communication. In May 2008, the department received accreditation by the Accrediting council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.

Only Accredited Program in SUNY. Buffalo State is the only SUNY school with programs accredited for the professional disciplines of journalism, public relations, advertising, broadcasting, and related areas. It is one of only six accredited schools in New York States (Syracuse, Hofstra, NYU, Iona, Columbia -- and Buffalo State).

Benefit to Students. What this means to you is that your degree will carry more weight. Your school has been accepted into the 15 percent of communication programs throughout the nation accredited by ACEJMC. Accreditation is an assurance to students, parents and the public of our quality performance, based on an extensive review and measured against national standards.
