Liao Joins Department as Assistant Professor
Hsiang-Ann Liao, Ph.D., has joined the Communication Department as an assistant professor of speech.
A former assistant professor at Queensborough Community College and SUNY Brockport and teaching assistant at the University at Buffalo, Liao earned her doctorate in communication from UB and her master's in journalism from Ohio State University. Liao is the recipient o
f the division top paper award for civic and citizen journalism from the Association for the Education of Journalism and Mass Communication, a one-semester United University Professions Drescher Award for research and UUP's individual development grant.
She has conducted scholarly research on political and cultural communication and presented her research at national and international conferences.
She has taught speech communication, introduction to oral communication and information literacy, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, international communication, mass communication theory, protest and public opinion, public relations methods and cases as well as graduate seminars in mass communication and quantitative research method.
She will teach Introduction to Oral Communication at Buffalo State.
