Instructor Wins AP Reporting Award
Mary Pasciak, a lecturer in journalism, received the honorable mention award in multimedia packaging for her articles on "Charitable Foundations: The Art of Giving" published by The Buffalo News. Ms. Pasciak, a graduate of the Buffalo State journalism program, has taught as a part-time lecturer with the Communication Department for several years. She shared the award with two other News reporters.
The award was presented in September by the New York State Associated Press Association.
A former lecturer in journalism, Patrick Lakamp, received the association's first place award in the business-finance category for his reporting on the Leonard Stokes controvery involving the mayor's office.
The Buffalo News received the Newspaper of Distinction award as the best newspaper in its circulation category (125,000 and above). The newspaper is edited by Margaret Sullivan, a part-time lecturer in media writing in the Communication Department.
