BUFFALO STATE CARES: A SUICIDE PREVENTION INITIATIVE

Buffalo State Cares will be a collaborative effort with a number of community partners including the Crisis Services, Erie County Medical Center, UB Family Medicine Special Services , Buffalo General Hospital, and the VA.

These partners will support campus efforts to increase awareness about suicide prevention and support students in suicidal crisis. The community partners will also assist us in developing a model policy relating to student transportation and follow-up when there is a mental health emergency on campus.

Out of The Darkness Community Walk

We were proud to participate in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness community walk on September 14, 2013.

Our Buffalo State Cares team exceeded our fundraising goal by 134% with a grand total of 2,670.00. Our team had 21 members and we received 168 donor emails. We had the honor of having our team name, Buffalo State Cares,  listed on the official event t-shirt as being among the top fundraisers.
