Students who pursue an education in the Criminal Justice Department will examine the criminal justice system and its relationship to crime in a democratic society. Our multidisciplinary programs foster knowledge in a number of topic areas, including:
- Laws and procedures used by law enforcers, prosecutors, attorneys, and judges
- Current information about police work and its critical problems
- Historical, cultural, social, and legal influences that affect the practice of justice for juveniles
- Research processes used to study criminal justice practice
- Social, political, cultural, and economic forces that shape attitudes about crime
- Crime-prevention efforts dealing with offenders, people likely to become offenders, and environments that foster crime
