Current position: Child Protection Investigator, Erie County
Duties: Responsible for investigating reports of alleged child abuse and/or neglect. Also responsible for investigating cases of special nature that include child sexual abuse, fatalities and serious injuries.
Progression of criminal justice related jobs: In April of 2000, I was hired at the Better Business Bureau’s Dispute Settlement Center, in Buffalo, NY. We were responsible for alternative dispute resolution programs which included mediation and arbitration of disputes between businesses and consumers, custody and visitation mediation, special education mediation, and disputes between neighbors.
I left the field of criminal justice for a while, only to return to it in March of 2007, as a Child Protective Worker for Erie County. I am currently on a special investigations team that investigates cases of child sex abuse, child fatalities, and serious injuries.
I am starting my first college-level teaching job at Bryant and Stratton College this spring. I will be teaching Corrections and Ethics in Criminal Justice.
Personal Bio: Married to Jim since July 2000; one child, Jacob, age 3.
