Buffalo State’s Smiley Collects SUNYAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Award
FREDONIA, NY— The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) named Buffalo State sophomore forward Bianca Smiley (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after helping lead the Bengals to a weekend sweep of two of the top teams in the conference over the weekend.
Smiley averaged 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in the two wins as Buffalo State moved into a tie for first place in the standings with a 9-2 conference record. Smiley paced Buffalo State against New Paltz with her seventh double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds and followed on Saturday with a team-high 13 points against Oneonta.
A criminal justice major, she currently leads the team in points-per-game and rebounds-per-game with 13.1 and 9.3, respectively.
The Bengals next travel to the North Country for another pair of league games on Friday and Saturday.
