Career and Technical Education students will receive information on skills and strategies for integrating the Common Core Learning Standards into CTE courses and classes on February 7 at 6:00 pm in Bacon Hall 110. All interested guests are welcome to come hear from presenters Charlie Crumb and Keith Babuszczak, Field Team Associates of the CTE Technical Assistance Center of New York. Dr. Babuszczak has done extensive research on the topics of integration of the Common Core Learning Standards, and Mr. Crumb is the WNY liaison to the Technical Assistance Center.
Bill Rakonczay Wins National Award for Metals Program
William (Bill) Rakonczay, a graduate student in the Career and Technical Education Department and area metals teacher, won the national 2012 Clips & Clamps Industries Institution Award for his Precision Machine Technology Program at the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center.
Rakonczay was named Orleans/Niagara BOCES Teacher of the Year for 2008-2009. He began teaching the Precision Machine Technology Program shortly after his father, who had taught the program for 24 years, retired. He has a degree from RIT in Industrial Management.
The Educational Institution Award is one of eight Awards of Excellence in Metalforming presented annually by the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA). Rakonczay was recognized at an awards ceremony at the annual FABTECH event in Las Vegas in November 2012.
Rakonczay's success was featured on WGRZ.
