Computing Help Desk - Butler Library 157 - (716) 878-4357

The need for a faculty/staff training facility was identified as a key step in reaching the desired level of information literacy at Buffalo State College during the provost's strategic planning effort in the mid-nineties. A hands-on training facility for students in library instruction classes was also a critical need. The Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Vice President of Finance and Management agreed to co-fund a rehabilitation of the 3rd Floor Southwest of E. H. Butler Library.

The third-floor, southwest quad of the E.H. Butler Library is referred to as CyberQuad. This is a state-of-the-art training facility with three Windows-based labs/classrooms, a Faculty/Staff Workroom, the office of Distance Education, a one-on-one work area and a small meeting/conference room. Workshops are scheduled year-round to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students as new software and equipment are introduced. This is an ideal space for workshops and intensive training, where trainees each have their own workstations.

CyberQuad 310 is the faculty/staff workroom. Access to the workroom is gained by using your SUNY ID card as a key and is available during normal library hours. Contact Paul Reynolds at 878-3361 to find out how to have your card programmed for use of the workroom.

CyberQuad 312 is the location of the Distance Education contact person.

CyberQuad 314 contains twenty-two Dell computers. To reserve this room, contact Hilary Sternberg in the E. H. Butler Library at 878-6305.

CyberQuad 315 is two connected rooms. At one end is the one-on-one training/consulting area and at the other end is the CyberQuad/TASC meeting/conference room.

Cyberquad 316 contains twenty-two Dell computers and may be used by faculty who wish to offer training sessions for their students. A faculty member may reserve the room for 3-4 consecutive sessions, depending on availability. CQ316 is also used for library instruction, software presentations and a variety of demos.

CyberQuad 318 is similar to CQ316 with the exception of having only eighteen Dell computers.

Both labs are available during normal library hours. To reserve one of these rooms, contact Paul Reynolds at 878-3361 or by email at: reynolap@buffalostate.edu.
