The need for a faculty/staff training facility was identified as a key step in reaching the desired level of information literacy at Buffalo State College during the provost's strategic planning effort in the mid-nineties. A hands-on training facility for students in library instruction classes was also a critical need. The Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Vice President of Finance and Management agreed to co-fund a rehabilitation of the 3rd Floor Southwest of E. H. Butler Library.
The third-floor, southwest quad of the E.H. Butler Library is referred to as CyberQuad. This is a state-of-the-art training facility with three Windows-based labs/classrooms, a Faculty/Staff Workroom, a one-on-one work area and a small meeting/conference room. Workshops are scheduled year-round to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students as new software and equipment are introduced. This is an ideal space for workshops and intensive training, where trainees each have their own workstations.
