- Dial the four-digit extension number.

- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial "9" or "8" if the line is toll restricted; wait for a second dial tone.
- Dail the local telphone number.
(Note: Local calls are charged based on the length of the call.)

Centrex Dialing Instructions
Terminology
- Switchhook - Button where the handset rests when not in use.
- Depress Switchhook/Recall or Flash Button - Means press down firmly as far as it will go and then release immediately.
- Dial tone - A continuous steady tone.
- Specail Dial tone - Three beeps followed by a steady dial tone.
- Confirmation tone - Two short bursts of tone, similar to a busy signal, but followed by silence.
- Reorder Tone - Rapid busy signal that indicates you have attempted a restricted feature or incorrectly entered an access code.
- To tranfer a call to a third party: Depress Switchhook/Recall or Flash Button; listen for special dial tone. Dial third party; listen for ringing phone. Either: Hang up, or wait for an answer; announce that call and hang up. If third number is busy or does not answer, depress Switchhook/Recall or Flash Button twice to be reconnected to original party.

To consult privately with a third party:

Hold: There are three types of hold procedures depending on the user's requirement for limited or expanded functionality.
- Actual hold button on the telphone set
- Switchhook/Recall or Flash Button on telephone set , as used in the above procedures
- System hold which is activated by pressing Switchhook/Recall or Flash button and dialing *80
Phone will ring; answer; you are connected to held call.

Speed Calling: Allows you to program 10 of your most frequently called numbers that can be accessed by dialing the * button followed by a digit.

Dial telephone number to be stored, including access codes, i.e., 9, 1; press # key. - To Dial:

Ring Again (internal Use Only): Allows you to program your telephone to alert you when a busy extension becomes free.
Note: this feature must be programmed into the switch.
- To Activate:
From INTERNAL busy connection, press Switchhook/Recall or Flash Button.
Hear special dial tone. Dial *78; hear confirmation tone; hang up.
When your party's line becomes free, your telephone will ring with a priority ring.
Lift handset; hear ringback tone; called party is automatically connected. - To Cancel: Dial *78; hear confirmation tone.

Optional Feature: Call Pick Up - To answer a call that is ringing in your group:
Note: This feature must be programmed into the switch.
- To Activate:
Lift handset; press *70; begin conversation.
Note: If ringing extension is not in your assigned pickup group, fast busy tone will be heard. - To hold one call and answer another telephone:
Depress Switchhook/Recall or Flash; listen for dial tone.
Depress *70. Begin conversation. - To hold call and place another:
Depress Switchhook/Recall or Flash; listen for dial tone.
Depress *80; listen for confirmation dial tone; dial call. - To return to a held call:
Hang up; answer phone when it rings; resume conversation.
