What are my computer and printer equipment choices and pricing?

CTS will order and support both PC and Mac computers.

Ordering equipment to arrive in time

Pre-semester delivery: Allow up to 5 weeks prior to the start of the semester for delivery and setup.

During semester delivery: Allow up to 3 weeks from your order date for delivery and setup.

 

Budget basics...who pays for what?

New full-time faculty and staff on a State line will be provided with a campus standard computer (and monitor). 

Any additional equipment or software will be paid for out of other funds (your department, area etc.).

Replacement (what gets replaced when)

Every four years every faculty/staff full-time State line position’s computer is up for replacement.  If you have two machines (i.e. a desktop and a laptop), the newest one will be replaced.  Campus computers are on a replacement schedule.  You will be contacted by CTS if your equipment is up for replacement.

If you need your peripherals replaced (i.e. printers), you will need to order that on your own. There is no replacement schedule for peripherals.

 

Ordering beyond the "standard"

If your order goes beyond the “standard” to meet your needs, it may add time to your delivery.  Also, it will need to be determined which budget will incur the extra cost.

 

What if I am not sure what I need?

1. Email CTS Purchasing (ctspurchasing@buffalostate.edu) and explain what it is you need or need your computer equipment to do for you. 

2. They will work with you and give you a quote. 

3. Attach the quote to a requisition and send it to purchasing. 

4. When your items are in CTS will schedule set-up with you via the CHD.

 

Hardware repair

If your equipment needs repair, contact the Computing Help Desk at 878-4357, or visit them in E.H. Butler Library in the Information Commons.

 

How do I request a refurbished computer?

1. Email Melissa Miszkiewicz (miszkimj@buffalostate.edu) with the following information:

  • Clarification to why you need it.
  • Who will be using it.
  • What software is needed on it.
  • What location the computer will reside.

2. Melissa will "approve" the request and will contact you and the Contact the Computing Help Desk (CHD) with the approval.

3. CHD will generate the work order.

  

Mac-support

Buffalo State College is committed to supporting both PC and Mac computers.  If you need help with your Mac, contact the Computing Help Desk at 878-4357, or visit them in E.H. Butler Library in the Information Commons.
