Note: In order to use the full version of Mathematica 7, you must be a registered student and use a valid Buffalo State e-mail address when you register your copy. If you aren’t currently registered for classes, or if you use an e-mail address other than your Buffalo State address, you will not be able to use Mathematica.
Downloading and Installing Mathematica 7 on a PC
- Under Mathematica 7 for Windows click the Download Now link.
- Check the box to agree to the Software Agreement, and then click Submit.
- Click the Save button and then choose the location where you want to save the file. Note: The Mathematica file is very large, and will take some time to download, even over a high-speed Internet connection.
- Locate the Mathematica7-Win.zip file that you downloaded.
- Double-click the zip file and then click Extract all files.
- Choose the location where you want to save the extracted files.
- Locate the folder where you saved the extracted files, and double-click the Mathematica 7 file to begin
the installation.
Follow the steps below to install and register your copy of Mathematica 7 on a Windows computer.
- Double-click the Mathematica 7 file to begin the installation. You’ll need to click through a number of prompts to complete the setup. It is recommended that you accept the default settings.
- When you launch Mathematica for the first time, you’ll receive a message that Mathematica for Students will stop working in 14 days unless a valid password is entered. Click Enter Password.
- Select Single-Machine License and enter the code L3010-1327 in the License Number box. Filling out the Name and Organization boxes are optional and will not affect the program. Click OK.
- If you have an Internet connection, click the Web button to register your copy of Mathematica and obtain a password. Otherwise, click the Other Ways to Register button.
- Select I want to register a product and generate a password and click Continue.
- Select the product you want to register (Windows; 7.0.0; Single User; 2 processes) and click Continue.
- Complete the registration form, making sure to use your Buffalo State e-mail address, and click Continue.
- Once you complete the registration form, you’ll receive an e-mail from the Computing Help Desk within one business day; the e-mail will contain your password. In the example below, the password is the string of numbers beginning with 9156 following the license number (L3010-1327).
- To enter your password, open Mathematica, click the Enter Password button, and then copy/paste the password you received from the Computing Help Desk.
Downloading and Installing Mathematica 7 on a Mac
- Under Mathematica 7 for Mac click the Download Now link.
- Check the box to agree to the Software Agreement, and then click Submit.
- The file should automatically start downloading to your Downloads folder. Note: The Mathematica file is very large, and will take some time to download, even over a high-speed Internet connection.
- Go to your Downloads and double-click the Mathematica 7 folder.
- Drag (or copy) the Mathematica file to your Applications folder.
