Judy Walsh contributed two essays to the exhibition catalogue, Watercolors by Winslow Homer: The Color of Light, showing at the Art Institute of Chicago exclusively from February 16–May 10, 2008. The essays are entitled, "More Skillful, More Refined, More Delicate: England" and "Winslow Homer and the Color Theories of Michel-Eugène Chereul". The catalogue is published by The Art Institute of Chicago and distributed by Yale University Press and is available from amazon.com

In 2006, Judy was a contributing author for "Georgia O'Keeffe: Color and Conservation," by René Paul Barilleaux and Sarah Whitaker Peters, Judy wrote the section entitled, “Pastel, Georgia O'Keeffe and Conservation”. This text was written to complement the exhibit of the same name currently at the Mississippi Museum of Art that explores conservation issues surrounding O’Keeffe’s art. "Georgia O’Keeffe: Color and Conservation" is organized by the Mississippi Museum of Art and will travel to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester.

Judy also contributed an essay entitled, “Mixing Oil and Water: Development of Winslow Homer's Painting”, to "Winslow Homer: Poet of the Sea" edited by Sophie Levy in 2006. This text offers a fresh exploration of Homer and his career-long preoccupation with the relationship between humans and the waters that define their world. Published in conjunction with exhibitions at London’s Dulwich Picture Gallery and the Musée d’Art Américain in Giverny by the University of Chicago Press.

Jonathan Thornton is a contributing author in the text, Conservation of Furniture. This book is a comprehensive resource covering the principles and practice of the conservation and restoration of furniture, and other decorative art objects made wholly or partly of wood. It integrates theory with practice to show the principles which govern interaction between wooden objects, the environmental and conservation treatments and the factors which need to be taken into account to arrive at acceptable solutions to conservation problems.
