About Buffalo
For Prospective Students
Home

Buffalo is a great place to live and our students find it to be quite pleasant. Yes, we do get snow, but ask anyone who lives here and they will tell you it isn't nearly as bad as the Weather Channel will have you believe - - and we always make the best of it!

There is plenty to do and see here in Western New York. To start, Buffalo has several museums with highly diverse collections ranging from historic ethnographic and decorative artifacts to modern art.

The city also contains many important architectural structures, among them five Frank Lloyd Wright buildings, the Louis Sullivan Guarantee Building, Henry Hobson Richardson's Psychiatric Center next door to the college, and a harbor front with historically significant early grain elevators. A variety of outdoor sculpture also exists in the city along with some of the best Frederick Law Olmsted parks. Buffalo is also home to the world class Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra that gives performances throughout the Western New York area.

If there is one thing you will not do in Buffalo, it is starve! We have hundreds of restaurants that serve anything from Italian to Thai to Japanese. There is no doubt that Buffalo has some of the best food in the world, not to mention its famous wings, beef on weck, and hot dogs!

Real estate is also plentiful and inexpensive here in Buffalo. Students find very comfortable apartments close to the college for reasonable prices and those that stay in the area find our cost of living to be way below that of other metropolitan areas.

We have come up with a few links we think will be helpful to anyone planning a visit or for those students accepted into the program who need to start getting familiar with the area.
