| Chemistry requirement for Art Conservation
Thank you for your interest in the Art Conservation Department at Buffalo State College. Because many prospective applicants take chemistry after having received their college degrees, we receive many inquiries about exactly which chemistry courses to take. It is important that you take courses designed for chemistry majors. Some schools offer programs for nurses, for humanities majors, or for other specialized groups; we require that you follow the program intended for chemistry majors. We cannot answer questions about exactly which course numbers you should choose, as the numbers differ from institution to institution and we are unable to research each and every program. We recommend strongly that you check with your school about which general chemistry and organic chemistry lab and lecture courses are intended for chemistry majors. Whether you choose to take chemistry classes at a community college or at a major university is usually less important than making sure that you are in the correct course sequence. Your undergraduate education, including grades, type of institution, degree, etc. is one of a number of factors that are considered during the application review process.
