| Fellowships
The department provides fellowships to its registered students in good academic standing. Beginning in Spring 2008, Buffalo State College will grant tuition remission to all Art Conservation students, so students will not be required to pay tuition. Fellowship stipends will be approximately $13,000 - 14,000. Students in any one entering class receive the same level of support.
Loans
Education loans are available to students both from the college through its Financial Aid Office and the department through its Conservation Student Loan Fund. Students in need of a loan should first contact the Financial Aid Office, Cleveland Hall 309 (tel: 716-878-4901) at the beginning of the year in which they are applying for admission to fill out the appropriate paperwork.
They can expect to be asked to file a FAFSA (Free Application for Student Financial Aid) form to establish their level of need. If additional loan funds are required beyond the amount provided through the Financial Aid Office, it may be sought from the department's Conservation Student Loan Fund. Entering students are restricted to a borrowing maximum of $3,000 in their first semester but, thereafter, may borrow up to an aggregate total of $12,000. Loan interest rates are low, being comparable to (but never more than) other nationally available education loans awarded for graduate studies such as Perkins Loans. Interest is not charged on amounts borrowed until the start of the year following graduation.
