Virtually every object and environment is transformed by a design process. Graduates of the design program are prepared to meet consumers' needs by working in their chosen specialities—ceramic, communication, fiber, metal/jewelry, or wood furniture design.

The Design Department provides students with a celebrated faculty who are experts in a wide range of mediums. From these accomplished artisans, students may delve into a number of intensive-study concentrations including ceramic design, communication (graphic) design, computer textile design for industry, fiber design, metal/jewelry design, wood/furniture design, and theater design.
Our students learn not only in the classroom and studio space, but also through unique internship opportunities cultivated by the Design Department's faculty. Our students are well prepared, and in have been placed as interns in such nationally revered design firms as Pushpin Studios, Cannon Design, Eric Mower and Associates, and others. They have gone on to work in design, advertising and manufacturing firms across the country.
