Description:
Teachers who make use of technology to overcome challenges and improve student learning are being sought for nomination for the "Technology Using Teacher" of the Year award.
The award recognizes an innovative teacher that uses technology to enhance teaching strategies to improve student achievement. The teacher inspires and demonstrates the successful integration of various effective technologies in the classroom.
Nomination submissions are open to any individual who knows an educator that demonstrates the advanced qualities of a Technology Using Teacher as outlined above and who meets the criteria below.
Technology Using Teacher of the Year Criteria:
- The nominee is a full-time PreK-12 classroom teacher.
- The nominee's efforts have encouraged colleagues to use technology;and have benefited student achievement in the classroom.
- The nominee is dedicated to improve the quality of education.
- The nominee consistently uses technology in an effort to improve education for students.
- The quality of education has been drastically improved in the nominee's workplace as a result of the nominee's technology use.
How to Nominate a Technology Using Teacher:
Individuals interested in submitting a nomination should e-mail the following information to ETC2007@buffalostate.edu with "Technology Using Teacher" Award nomination as your subject line. If you have any questions, contact Dr. John Thompson (thompsjt@buffalostate.edu, 716-860-0341). A valid telephone number and e-mail address for both yourself and the nominee must be included.
Information to include in the submission:
- Nominator name
- School with address
- Work phone
- Home phone
- E-mail address
- Nominee's name (Dr., Mr., Ms., or Mrs.)
- Position/Title
- School Name with address and phone number
- Grade level(s)
- School system
- E-mail address
- A description (750 words or less is suggested) of why you feel this person should be nominated for the award. Describe in detail how this person is using technology in his/her classroom and how he/she promotes the use of technology in education in his/her school.
The award recipient must be available for recognition at the closing ceremony on May 11.
Deadline:
Submissions must be received on or before April 27, 2007 in order to be considered for the award.

Selection of the winner will be made by ETC '07 Committee. Selected recipient will be notified by e-mail or telephone. Please keep a copy of all of your submitted information.
