Site Visit
Applying campuses pay the
travel-related cost of an NSE staff person to conduct an on-site visit
and program orientation as part of the application process. A one-time
application fee of $200 is assessed in addition to the travel-related costs.
Operating Costs
Operational costs are minimal with most campuses fitting NSE into an
existing administrative office budget. Additional funds
may be needed in some offices to promote the program.
Membership Fee
There is an annual membership fee of $600. For that fee, member campuses
receive an ample supply of the NSE Directory, the primary
information document used in working with students, and posters that can
be used in promoting the program. Members receive on-site training, a
detailed procedural handbook, directory of campus coordinators, monthly
newsletter, other publications to support the exchange process, NSE
Central Office assistance, an e-mail ListServ, a dedicated coordinator
website, and a mentoring program for new coordinators.
Conference Expenses
Each year the coordinator is required to attend the annual conference.
Conference attendance is imperative since the majority of NSE's placements
are accomplished in that venue. Panel presentations, in-service training, and
consortium business are also accomplished at this annual meeting. The
conference is rotated among five geographic regions of the country to prevent a
group of campuses from always having a greater travel expense for that event.
