Special Programs

Accessing Programs
How can students access international programs, internships, student teaching, resident assistant exchange, honors programs, disability assistance, and other special options from a host campus?
Special program options need to be explored, discussed, and negotiated prior to making placements. NSE recommends that students, with their campus coordinators, begin exploring the possibilities at least ten months ahead of the actual exchange when possible. Direct contact with authoritative personnel on both the home and host campuses is critical.

Placement
If I can't make placements prior to the conference, how can a student be assured of a special program option that has already been negotiated?
It may be a fine line, but special program options as described in the previous question are an exception to the rule of making no exchange commitments prior to the conference. It is necessary for the student and home coordinator to keep the host coordinator informed of all arrangements as they are developing. A commitment to accept the student needs to be secured in the process. (see NSE Handbook Section 16.2.1.1)
