Many students at Buffalo State College participate in internships or part-time employment related to their career objectives. These activities are coordinated through the Career Development Office. It is especially important for students with disabilities to participate in internships where they can develop skills, learn to advocate for their needs in the workplace and acquire experience that will help them as they seek employment after graduation.

Officials in the Career Development Office are specially trained to provide students guidance on career choices appropriate to their abilities and interests, preparation of résumés, accommodations that may be necessary in the internship or employment setting, interviewing skills, and the issues surrounding when and how a student may need to disclose his/her disability to an employer.
