The Buffalo State College Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential information, assessment, and referral service. EAP is designed to help employees cope with personal issues that negatively affect their lives and may intrude upon their jobs such as emotional stress, family disintegration, financial or legal difficulties, alcoholism or drug abuse, and marital disruption. These issues not only harm an employee’s personal life, but also impair workplace productivity. EAP was formed with the knowledge that such problems can be addressed and treated with appropriate and relevant help.

WellNYS Everyday - A New Wellness Initiative for NYS Employees
WellNYS Everyday is designed to complement and assist local EAP committees with wellness programming. It is ready-to-implement, and designed to minimize the time the EAP committees need to organize individual wellness programs. The mission of WellNYS Everyday is to educate, engage, and empower New York State employees and their families, by encouraging participation in healthy behaviors. 2013 Flex Spending Account Deadline Approaching
Employees enrolled in the Flex Spending Account (FSA) for the 2013 plan year have until March 31, 2014 to send in reimbursement requests for eligible 2013 expenses incurred under the Health Care Spending Account and the Dependent Care Advantage Account. FSA reimbursement requests may be mailed, faxed, or submitted online through www.myFBMC.com. For more information, log onto www.flexspend.ny.gov or call 1-800-358-7202.
Seeking Wellness Volunteers
Do you have a talent, expertise, skill, or information that you are willing to share with fellow Buffalo State community members? The Employee Assistance Program Committee is seeking volunteers willing to facilitate a workshop or session for campus faculty and staff. Just contact the EAP office with your wellness related topic and availability and we’ll do the rest! Some potential discussions include parenting, finances, child and elder care, and handling stress; possible health activities include yoga, pilates, or dance. Please email Tamara if you can donate your talents, or to let us know what types of experiences you’d like to see offered.
