Gary Solar, chair and associate professor, participated and co-led at the 2009 Workshop for Heads and Chairs of Earth and Space Sciences Departments, during the fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union, held in San Francisco, California, on December 13. Solar is a member of the Heads and Chairs group of the Executive Board.

Kevin Williams, assistant professor, is involved with a project on a NASA spacecraft now orbiting the moon. Williams, a planetary geologist, is making use of a radar instrument that can collect information about the texture and composition of the lunar surface.

His work is featured on the State University of New York Research Foundation’s Web site.
