Professional Geology Meetings
Participation in Regional and National Professional Conferences
Earth sciences faculty are actively supportive of students having the opportunity to interact with their prospective professional groups. Each year, with support from the Geology Club, many students attend and present the results of their undergraduate research at the regional meeting of the Geological Society of America (GSA).
Our region is the “Northeast” section which extends from Maryland through the New England states and into Maritime Canada. Each year we have had an average of 20 students make the trip. This year (March 2012), the meeting is in Hartford, Connecticut. As usual, we will have a couple of students presenting at the meeting. Many years we have students present at national professional conferences as well, including the national meeting of the GSA, and the biannual meeting of the American Geophysical Union held in San Francisco, California.
