Volcanological and Geological Hazards issues (Arizona and California), sediment analysis, surface processes, geomorphology. Ongoing research
includes: "Grand Canyon of the West versus the Grand Canyon of the East" geological features comparison, volcanic ash fall deposit analysis and challenge of current standards of laboratory analysis with help of Inyo Craters, CA ash falls, and geothermal monitoring of Mammoth Springs, Yellowstone Caldera, WY. Dr. Martinez-Hackert is the also the director of field studies/courses to national and international locations for the department of Earth Sciences and Science Education.
