Career and Technical Education
Career and technical education majors are prepared for positions as teachers and administrators in high schools, vocational schools such as BOCES, technical institutes, correctional facilities, and community college technical programs. Graduates teach skills such as welding, agriculture, machining, cosmetology, and culinary arts. By choosing appropriate courses, graduates also may prepare to organize and operate work-study programs in secondary schools. Graduates also may pursue a master’s degree in career and technical education.

Recent graduates have been hired by Erie I BOCES, Erie II BOCES, the Buffalo Public Schools, Erie Community College, Niagara Community College, and Orleans-Niagara BOCES.

Adult Education
Graduates work in community agencies and colleges conducting literacy, personal development, and workforce preparation training. They also train or retrain private-sector employees for skills needed to perform well and advance on the job. In addition, the M.S. program prepares students for doctoral study in adult education.

Adult education program graduates work at the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Monroe Community College; Broome Community College; the Erie County Department of Social Services; the Binghamton Police Department; Niagara County Community College; the Rochester Police Department; Herkimer County Community College; Cornell Cooperative Extension; the Buffalo State College Continuing Education Office; Jamestown Community College; Jamestown Business College; SUNY Fredonia; Nassau Community College; the Rochester Youth Opportunity Program; and high schools throughout the state.

Career and Technical Education
Graduates teach in high schools, vocational schools, technical institutes, correctional facilities, and community colleges as work experience coordinators, curriculum coordinators, supervisors, or principals.
