ELEMENTARY EDUCATION AND READING

Welcome to the Department of Elementary Education and Reading's website.  We hope that you will visit the site frequently for the wealth of information that it provides about our programs and professional opportunities.

We are proud of our strong ties with schools and districts in the Western New York area and the collaborative work in which we engage, particularly through our Professional Development Schools Consortium.  We also have excellent relationships with local community colleges through jointly registered programs, dual enrollment, and articulation agreements.

Our faculty is made up of individuals who hold the knowledge, skills, and experiences through both academic preparation and real world experience in the schools to effectively support the learning of future teachers at Buffalo State College.  They are an active faculty in the realms of writing and publishing in the discipline, as well as their more direct and personal contributions to local community efforts to strengthen our school systems.

The Elementary Education and Reading Department award-winning programs have a strong record of supporting students through the educational process, maintaining standards of excellence, and involving students in research leading to professional presentations and publications in their areas of interest.

We believe that the combination of our excellent relationships with local schools, our experienced and dedicated faculty, and our student support systems offer teacher candidates unique and fulfilling academic experiences which will lead them to success as elementary teachers.

Please feel free to contact us at elementaryed@buffalostate.edu for more information about how we can assist you in achieving your degree from the Elementary Education and Reading department at Buffalo State College.
