Welcome to the Department of Elementary Education and Reading’s Undergraduate Programs!
Congratulations on choosing a wonderfully rewarding career in teaching. Buffalo State College is proud of its outstanding reputation in teacher education and the excellent teacher candidates who represent our programs. We look forward to meeting you, answering your questions, and guiding you on the path toward earning your undergraduate degree and certification as an elementary school teacher.
As an undergraduate you will have opportunities to learn from professionals both in the college and elementary classrooms. You will also have choices to make along your journey. Have you given any thought to what grade levels or ages you might like to teach? All of our department’s students begin our undergraduate program as pre elementary education majors (ELEW). As you move into one of the full majors, you will choose to get certified in Birth-Second Grade (ECE), First-Sixth Grade (CED), Birth-Sixth Grade (ECC), or perhaps you will select certification in Seventh-Ninth grade as well. Whatever your decision, our faculty is available to help you move through our challenging and fulfilling program.
Please take some time to review the Undergraduate Program web pages which will provide you with a great deal of information and the answers to many of your questions.
If you have additional questions, or want more information about these undergraduate programs in elementary education, please contact us at elementaryed@buffalostate.edu
