CONTENT COURSES (CUR)
Updated April 2008
Curriculum and Instruction (CUR) students who hold a provisional orinitial certification and are seeking permanent or professional certification can use the following courses to satisfy the Content Distribution portion of their master’s program. One course in each subject must be completed. If these courses are taken as part of the content distribution requirement, they cannot be used to fulfill other requirements of the program.
This list will be updated periodically. As appropriate courses become available, they will be added to the lists. Check our website for updates.
(A) English Language Arts. Choose one course.

EDU 612 Developing Literacy through Literature
EDU 613 Assessment of English Language Arts for the Classroom Teacher (pre-requisite EDU 513 and one other graduate literacy course)
ENG 590 Professional and Scholarly Writing
ENG 638 Studies in Individual Writers
(B) Social Studies. Choose one course.
EDU 654 Social Studies in the Elementary School
HIS 500 Studies in American History
(C) Mathematics. Choose one course.
EDU 651 Improving Mathematics in the Elementary School
MAT 590 Special Topics: Math for Elementary Teachers
MAT 501, 521, 552, 581, 593 Mathematics for Teachers (appropriate for those who have a concentration in mathematics; should seek instructor permission)
(D) Science. Choose one course.
