Are you currently New York State certified (or completing a certification program) in Elementary Education (N to 6) or Childhood (Grades 1 to 6) or Early Childhood Education (Birth to Grade 2)?
If NO, then you may apply to one of our Masters Including Initial Teacher Certification (MIITC):

- Childhood (Grades 1 to 6), CET

Do you have New York State Provisional Certification in Elementary Education (N to 6)?
If YES, you may apply to:.
- Early Childhood (ECE)
Will apply for Permanent Certification in Elementary Education and Professional Certification in Early Childhood. - Childhood & Early Childhood Curriculum & Instruction (CUR)
Will apply for Permanent Certification in Elementary Education.
NOTE: You have five years from the date of your Provisional Certification to complete any of the above programs.
Do you have, or are you completing a program resulting in, New York State Initial Certification in Childhood or Early Childhood?
If YES, you may apply to:
- Early Childhood (ECE)
This program is meant for students with Childhood Certification who wish to add on Early Childhood Certification. Some field experience is required. Will apply for Professional Certification in Early Childhood and in your prior certification area(s). - Childhood & Early Childhood: Curriculum and Instruction (CUR)
No new certifications are earned through this program. Will apply for Professional Certification in your prior certification area(s). - Childhood (CED)
This program is meant for students with Early Childhood Certification who wish to add on Childhood Certification. Some field experience is required. Will apply for Professional Certification in Childhood and in your prior certification area(s).
NOTE: You have three years from the date of your Initial Certification to complete any of these programs.
Do you have, or are you completing, a program resulting in New York State Initial Certification in both Childhood and Early Childhood?
If YES, you may apply to:
- Childhood & Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction (CUR)
No new certifications are earned through this program. Will apply for Professional Certification in your prior certification area(s).
NOTE: You have three years from the date of your initial certification to complete any of these programs.
There are other departments, such as Exceptional Education and Creative Studies, and programs such as Educational Computing, that offer graduate programs that may suit your needs.
